Highly soluble in water (with heat release), ethanol and methanol.

Strong base, dissociates completely in water. Reacts with acids to form potassium salts and water.
Can react with some metals (e.g., aluminum) to produce hydrogen.
Reacts with CO2 in air to form potassium carbonate.
