Product Description

      

      The main chemical components of bentonite are silica, aluminum oxide and water. The content of magnesium oxide and iron oxide is also high, as well as calcium, sodium, potassium, etc. Montmorillonite is a hydrous aluminum silicate containing small amounts of alkali and alkaline earth metal ions. The unit cell of montmorillonite is two silicon-oxygen tetrahedron layers sandwiching a hydrogen-oxygen octahedron layer. 

 Function

     Industrially, bentonite is mainly used as a thickener and anti-sedimentant for coatings and inks.
(1) Use bentonite as a binder to make iron pellets and put them directly into the blast furnace for smelting instead of the sintering method. This can save 10% to 15% of flux and 15% of coke, and increase the blast furnace production capacity by 40% to 50%.
(2) Drilling mud prepared with sodium bentonite has high pulping rate and many other advantages. It is suitable for oil drilling, high-pressure jet wells, small-diameter drilling and unstable formation drilling.
(3) Using sodium bentonite as a binder for casting sand can enhance the sand resistance of the molding sand and solve the problem of easy collapse of the molding sand.
(4) Bentonite can be used as a pesticide carrier and diluent, a purification and decolorizing agent for oils and petroleum, and a clarifier and purification agent for the brewing and sugar industries.
In the past decade or so, many new uses for bentonite have been developed. In coal mine production, tunnels excavated in bentonite are prone to expansion, causing the tunnels to deform or even block, making them difficult to support.
