Product Description

      At room temperature, lithium chloride is white powder or small particles, which is the most deliquescent among known salts. It tastes very salty, like chloride; it melts into a clear liquid when heated to dark red, and volatilizes when white hot. Lithium chloride has a sodium chloride type structure, and the chemical bonds in it are not typical ionic bonds, so it is easily soluble in water. The solubility under standard conditions is 67 Chemicalbookg/100ml water. It is also easily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, and pyridine, but is difficult to dissolve in diethyl ether. Therefore, if chlorohalogenated hydrocarbons are used in the preparation of hydrocarbyl lithium, lithium chloride can precipitate in diethyl ether, and free hydrocarbyl lithium reagents (lithium bromide, Lithium iodide forms an adduct with hydrocarbyl lithium and acts as a stabilizer).

Usuage

Lithium chloride has a wide range of uses. The electrolytic production of metallic lithium is the field with the largest consumption of lithium chloride. The only current industrial method for producing metallic lithium was proposed by Gantz in 1893, namely the lithium chloride molten salt electrolysis method.
Metal lithium and its alloys and compounds are widely used in many fields such as atomic energy industry, metallurgical industry, battery, glass, ceramics, chemical industry, aerospace industry, etc. In recent years, lithium chloride has been widely used in biology, medicine and other fields.
